How to Use Laser Technology to Process Circular Easy-Tear Notches on Flexible Packaging?
The application of laser technology in the production of easy-tear lines on flexible packaging avoids the awkwardness of tearing open the entire package or the leakage of contents, making the application of flexible packaging more convenient. This technology has been widely used in Europe and the United States and has also been developed and recognized in China, with a very optimistic outlook.
In some cases, circular easy-tear notches or irregular tear notches, such as those on beverage pouches, are used in flexible packaging. To facilitate user convenience, a circular easy-tear notch for inserting a straw is designed at the top of the bag. Users can easily insert a straw into the bag through the pointed tip at the circular opening.
The traditional bag-making process involves punching out the circular opening on the composite film and placing a thinner film with a width greater than the diameter of the circular opening inside the bag during bag-making. A circular sealing knife is then used to heat-seal the outer edge of the circular opening, sealing the opening with the thin film. Users can break the thin film with a straw when using it. This processing method is complex, with a high rate of waste, and can make sealing along the bag edge difficult, leading to potential leaks.
Working Principle of Laser Cutting System: Using a laser cutting system for circular easy-tear notches can simplify the process, reduce costs, and significantly improve quality. The laser cutting system is computer-controlled, with the laser output power and the scanning motion of the mirror controlled by the computer. It can quickly cut out any shapes and characters designed by the computer on the film, with a maximum speed of up to 300 characters (recognizable) per second.
For example, cutting a circular easy-tear notch with a diameter of Φ5.5mm takes only about 0.1 seconds. This system can be installed on bag-making machines, cutting during the bag-making process. With the installation of flying mark software, the system can also be installed on a slitting machine, accurately positioning and cutting circular easy-tear notches or any desired shapes during motion, controlled by a color mark sensor.
