Recyclable Retort Pouches are pliable plastic pouches that are filled with pre-cooked or partially cooked food, sealed, and then subjected to sterilization, resulting in food pouches with a shelf life of up to 18 months without the need for preservatives or refrigeration. Originally developed by the US Army in the 1970s for the storage of military rations, Recyclable Retort Pouches have since transformed the packaging of Ready-to-Eat food and beverages.These pouches possess the same level of durability as traditional metal cans. They are constructed with four layers and are produced using films specifically designed for retort applications.
