Description

Oxygen Barrier Film has been heat sealed to form a hermetic sealed bag. The monolayer structure of the film is very permeable to most gases, while the barrier film laminate is designed to be gas impermeable. It is used to store oxygen sensitive materials such as oysters, meat, dairy products, organic foods, snack foods, canned foods and sensitive pet foods. It can also be used as a barrier to isolate the interior of the showcase from the display case material. An oxygen barrier film is used for the separator in the manufacture of an oxygen-free packaging structure.

All Oxygen Barrier Films are made from multiple layers of laminate. The outer layer is a printable (usually transparent) plastic with a relatively high melting point. It is usually made of polyester, nylon or polypropylene. The intermediate layer is a barrier film of a gas barrier material such as a foil or a plurality of clear coatings. The inner/bottom layer is a sealable layer formed of low density polyethylene or polypropylene and having a lower melting point than the outer layer. An additional physical functional layer (usually nylon) is applied to increase the mechanical properties of the film.
